National Institute of Foster Family Excellence
La Cuna recently launched the Institute for Foster Care Excellence. With the goal
of helping more foster care children throughout the world by better leveraging technology
to enhance the impact of donor investments, the Institute will function as an education
and resource center for private and public foster care service providers throughout
the U.S., as well as foster care parents. It will also encourage other cities to
either start up their own branches of La Cuna or implement its innovative model
for excellence in foster care. In creating the National Institute, La Cuna staff
and board of directors worked with a diverse group of experts, including Dr. Bruce
Perry, Senior Fellow of the Child Trauma Academy, Dr. Phillip Fisher of the Oregon
Social Learning Center, Patric Ashby, former Director of San Diego County Child
Welfare Services, Dr. Laura Proctor of the Child and Adolescent Services Research
Center, and other well-thought of leaders and consultants that have bright ideas
for our children.
